Title Research: Juno

Image
The movie “Juno” was researched on  www.artofthetitles.com  because of our genre Drama.  To start off , there  are 23 titles that appear during the opening sequence.  They include   the  directors, producers,  actors and title of the show.  There  are  a few others named but basically everyone who had a role in the making of the film is name. The  images  that are prioritized  in the opening scene is  Juno   only  really. She’s the only  c ha racter  that the  camer a  is focused on the whole entire time.  Things around her is being edited and she’s depicted sort of grey.  She’s just walking drinking a jug of  lemonade  along the way.   It also makes me wonder if the lemonade is anything significant.   The connotation these images carry is that the film is mostly centered on Juno.  The film established a feeling of drama because you’re already won d...

Title Research: Hostage

Image
The movie “Hostage” was title researched on  www.watchthetitles.com   because it has the same genre as my group, Drama. These titles included presenters, production, in association, the film type, the actual title, actors, castings, edited by, production designer, co-producers, executive producers, producers, written and directed by.  There were about 29 titles in the introduction of the movie Hostage. The title of the movie (hostage) was in the middle of the titles rather than the end. During the opening sequence, it was an animated showing of the city and how the city should appear in the movie. When the opening sequence ends it changes to a real actor screaming in a caged area. They show that struggle, distress, and ruggedness of the city. This lets the audience know what the rest of the movie is going to be like. This is important to draw in the targeted audience. The genre of drama is shown through the chaos of helicopters, guns, army men, etc. However, there ...

Title Research: Catch me if you can

Image
This movie “Catch me if you can” was researched on  www.artofthetitle.com  because it goes with our genre, Drama.  During the opening sequence 28 titles are displayed. They include the directors, producers, actors, etc. from the movie. Throughout the 3 minutes of the opening scene there are many images shown to represent what the movie will be about.   It's clear that images are outlines of people and places, such as the airport, party, etc.  In these scenes is a person running away from another person. There is a lot of color in every different scene. They are used for their symbolic force.  The connotation in these images invokes a drama filled scenarios of what is to come from movie.  Throughout the opening scene the theme of drama is heavily carried out.   Its puzzling in the opening because of how much information is not given about what is going to occur in the movie. For audiences that are intrigued by drama films, the images an...

Title research: A Fistful of Dallas

Image
The movie “A Fistful of Dollars” was title researched on  www.watchthetitles.com   because it has the same genre as my group and I’s genre, Drama. This movie contains seventeen titles with multiple people in each category. These titles included presenters, production, in association, the film type, the actual title, actors, castings, edited by, production designer, co-producers, executive producers, producers, written and directed by.   The main images portrayed are outlines of cowboys riding horses and cowboy shooting scenes. These images are either black on red or red on black. The letterings are also white. The clips are scattered and quick as to not reveal too much about the film but still create a drama filled introduction. The connotation in these images invokes an old western drama feel and gives the idea of what the movie is going to be about. The images in the sequence also set the mood for the film by showing a scene with a walkdown, which will clearly co...

Title Research: Watch the Titles Website

Image
The website, watchthetitles.com, is a website providing samples of movie titles. It involves movies, television programs, and even interviews. Multiple different elements are used in a typical film title sequence. Titles are not just a film's title. Titles also involve cast including the director and notable actors as well. For a few reasons, I have decided to use this website. The first is convenience, since it is easy to access the web. The website is divided into 3 major categories: Title Sequences, Designers, and Studios. There is a search bar to find if there are title sequences included for a specific film. If just browsing, the website also has titles divided into different categories. The categories are Feature Film, TV Shows, Event Titles, Student Projects, Video Games, and French Fridays. With each category, there is a selection of titles from films of that category. Each title clip also has paragraphs written going into detail on how the film went. The page also shows ...

Title Research: Art of the Title Website

Image
I am looking into the “artofthetitle” site because it’s an interesting site that is focused on intriguing movie titles. This site brings awareness to things that we typically look over when watching a film. When you first click on the website they’re displaying movie credits from a 1957 movie which has an article underneath. It also has two drop downs above that labeled “Title Sequences” and “Designers + Studios.” “Title Sequences” shows you different information about the film you choose. “Designers + Studios” gives you different names of designers and different studios. When you scroll down, they have four things you can click on. They have “Top 10 Title Sequences of 2020”, “The Queen’s Gambit”, “Final Destination: The Title Sequences”, and “The Silence of the Lambs.” The “Top 10 Title Sequences of 2020” article was published on December 27, 2020, which is the very best in 2020 title design which is chosen by their panel experts. “The Queen’s Gambit” was published December 19, ...

Genre research: All the Bright Places

Image
Welcome back to our next and final genre research movie. The movie we chose was All the Bright Places.     The first thing we noticed about the opening sequence was the location since they were on a bridge.     The viewers can automatically assume that the bridge has some meaning to one of the main characters since she was standing on it. We want our location to have importance to the opening scene. We want people to be able to guess that the location holds an importance but not exactly what’s going to happen just by seeing the location. Viewers don’t learn the true meaning of the location in the opening sequence however they do learn the meaning of it by the first 10 minutes. Since we’ll only be filming the opening scene we will show the true meaning at the end. The opening scene only was at one location. It did go by fast but however our video will need more time to make sure the point goes through properly. The Mise-en-Scene matched perfectly. The male main...

Genre research: Malcom and Marie

Image
Hey, we’re back with our second Genre research blog. The movie we choose was Malcom and Marie which can be found on Netflix. The first thing showed was the location. It was a house surrounded by landscape and trees. Since the whole movie was shot in one location, the opening scene was them at home. However, it was different parts of the house, we want to film ours like that. We don’t want to just stay at one location, we want to at least have 2 locations. We don’t believe it’s possible for us to film and give the viewers a good idea of what’s to come with one location. In Malcom and Marie, as part of the opening scene, they included the cast members names. By cast I don’t mean just the actors seen behind the camera lens but everyone who was involved in making the movie come to life. Such as the producers, those in charge of makeup, hairstylist etc. As of right now we are undecided on if we want to include everyone's name in our opening scene. The scene itself is already short so ...

Genre research: Black Panther

Image
Welcome back to my blog. These next few blogs will be about movies my group and I chos e to research and use to build our opening scene on.   The first  movie we chose was Black Panther. The first thing that the audience  hears is a child and their parent voice.  The story turned out to be the  background  story  of where the dad is from Wakanda. Which  leads the movie to a sandbox  type  of thing that  demonstrated  and drawn out everything the dad was saying as he was saying it.  Once the story was done being told, the year and place of the Movie was displayed on the scree n, 1992  California.  During this  the audience can clearly see the relationship between the characters. Since when the king walked in the two people who were  previously in the room bowed down to him and had to hide their weapons.  The Mise-en- Scene  also made sense. The  two men  living in California wo...

Genre Decision Blog

Image
After doing lots of research, the genre we chose for our movie is drama. There are four  different categories  in the drama genre. There’s comedy, tragedy, tragicomedy, and melodrama. Comedy is a type of drama that aims to make the audience laugh. Its tone is  light  and it mostly has  a happy ending . The classic conception of comedy came from the Ancient Greek theatre, where comedy first  emerged  as a form of drama. Tragedy is a type of drama in which the protagonist or hero is brought down by his/her flaws. Murders, deaths, insanity, and pain are among the most common ideas in tragedies. Main characters usually have  some kind of weakness  or defect that causes their downfall. Tragicomedy is a special kind of drama that combines the features of tragedy and comedy. This means that such play may be sad but will have  a happy ending , or it may be serious with some elements of humor  emerging  throughout the whole play....
