Title research: A Fistful of Dallas
The movie “A Fistful of Dollars” was title researched on www.watchthetitles.com because it has the same genre as my group and I’s genre, Drama. This movie contains seventeen titles with multiple people in each category. These titles included presenters, production, in association, the film type, the actual title, actors, castings, edited by, production designer, co-producers, executive producers, producers, written and directed by. The main images portrayed are outlines of cowboys riding horses and cowboy shooting scenes. These images are either black on red or red on black. The letterings are also white. The clips are scattered and quick as to not reveal too much about the film but still create a drama filled introduction. The connotation in these images invokes an old western drama feel and gives the idea of what the movie is going to be about. The images in the sequence also set the mood for the film by showing a scene with a walkdown, which will clearly contain a lot of drama. The outline of the cowboys establishes the genre of drama. Drama is showed when the two cowboys are having a walkdown and one ends up getting shot. This engages the viewer as to who they are and why they are significant. For this specific movie, the target audience would be someone looking to enjoy a movie set in older times. The title sequence conveys this with the western type of music and the cowboys riding the horses. Technology has been used effectively through the use of color, and simple, but purposeful effects that align with the common elements of a Drama. The transitions were very quick. The editing technique used were pretty basic as well, there was no irregular or unusual technique used. One editing transition used was the wipe, it can be seen throughout the whole opening.
