  The most common mis-en-scenes in a horror film are closeups, dull lighting and scary music that creates the mood. The close-ups allow you to get the actors full reaction to whatever is happening in the scene. This shot shows the emotion that the director is trying to convey the most. The dull lighting is also common because horror is supposed to be scary. Having limited vision plays  a big factor  in that when things could be popping up on you left and right. It also plays on the small fear of the dark that most people have. Some popular horror films include The Conjuring,  IT  and more. We really enjoy the scary music. surprises and backstories aspects of horror films.   Linked above is my Genre project from earlier this year. In that  project, I  went through and explained the most common things  you'll  notice in a drama. For example, the most common mis-en-scenes in drama is dull lighting, close ups of characters and long,  high  or low angles. The reason they use these mis-en-scenes is to sell the drama in the scene.  Usually  dramas are intense or have some type of tension. Directors also play around with the camera angles to usually assert dominance onto one character. If there is a scene where a character is being demeaned or something, the director can tilt the camera down to make it seem as if the character doing the demeaning feels more superior. It also helps the audience feel how the character feels. It allows you to feel how small and unimportant they can feel through the scene. Sub genres of drama were also covered in the PowerPoint. Hey ,  we’re  back.  S ame  group, different project.  This blog is about ou r  thought process when coming up with a  pitch to  follow  through with.  A pitch is a Hollywood term to describe an idea  o f  a film depicted in 25 words or less.  This is where   working as a group became helpful.  Since four heads were involved, several ideas  were thought of  giving us more freedom and a choice.
