Our Pitch
Hey, we’re back. Same group, different project. This blog is about our thought process when coming up with a pitch to follow through with. A pitch is a Hollywood term to describe an idea of a film depicted in 25 words or less. This is where working as a group became helpful. Since four heads were involved, several ideas were thought of giving us more freedom and a choice. Eventually we dropped it down to two. Only one pitch could be the winning pitch though, the pitch that becomes a movie. The first pitch is, caught between two guys, local teen is living her best life, until she starts receiving messages that leads to her downfall. This second pitch is a coming-of-age story of a teenage girl on her last year of high school. With her whole life planned, nothing could get in her way, but after a party, her whole life turned upside down. When discussing this and the other pitches we compared which ones would be more realistic and easier to film. We thought about the mis-en-scene that would be needed. Little details like the clothes that would be needed in each scene and hair and makeup. Another fact that played a big role is the location. Since we don’t all necessarily live close, we had to think of which pitch location was an easier commute for all four of us. This corona virus pandemic also plays a role in our choice in locations because everything is not opened. We also thought about which pitch would have the most effective dialogue and editing. Considering all these aspects, the first pitch was our best option. We’re so excited and kind of nervous to see the finished product.
