Filming Blog 1: Music Video

Hey guys, since this video is longer than my pervious projects I'll be breaking it down into more more blogs. There were more scenes involved than before. Which required more locations, outfit change, shots, angles and movements. We originally planned to film on November 23, 2020, however, sometimes life throw unforeseen circumstances your way. That's exactly what it did last Monday. We had to find the next best available day for every team member between practices, jobs and school. That day ended up being Monday November 30, 2020. For the scenes where everyone had to be in them we met up at Galleria Mall. Filming with people you already have history with makes the experience way more enjoyable. We wet into galleria and wore different clothes the same color but in different styles. Since the song says 4 names in the beginning we filmed a clip that shows all four of us independent woman. We felt as if recording Julie walk around the mall buying clothes would be too repetitive....

Planning Storyboard for my music video

Image
Hey guys, I'm back. If you haven't figured it out yet it's time for the storyboard before I can start filming First Scene:   For our first scene, it’ll establish us as “Destiny’s Child”. All four group members will be  at the mall letting the camera pan across them. We don’t have a transition yet but there will be a smooth transition guiding us  into the next scene. Second Scene:  For the second scene, there will be a close up  shot of Sarah in her work uniform and her work logo.  She will be talking to a costumer and answering their questions .   This scene will include a reverse zoom ,  a point of  view from the costumer’s  eyes , and an over the shoulder shot when the costumer is paying .  Another transition will happen at the end of this scene also. Third Scene:   In the third scene, Julie will be shopping in the mall.  There might be a man trying to pay for the things she is  buying  bu t she declines...

Planning for my music video

Image
The next step of our project is planning .  T his is the time where we  think of which  conventions,   we  want to incorporate  and which ones  we will  le a ve out.  There  were a  lot of conventions   seen and noted . However, we can only fit so much into a minute-long vide o .    Props:  Since the song is about women getting  what they desire through their own  earnings, the  scene  where  we a re  at the mall  props such  as  money , shopping bags ,  and what we buy will be used. The ind ividual scene s  won’t have props that go with the music ,  but rather the actions  made   by each actor  will  be  a representation of the music.    Costumes:   We will be all dressed in different attire for our personal scenes.  But  there will be a point where we are all in one scene, so  we will color ...

Research Blog: Music video conventions

Image
Hey guys, back to square one of every project. Researching and noting the conventions of  the general product.  Since  I’ ll be  working on  a music video to  a destiny child song, I've watched and taken notes about  their  videos.  I also expanded  my research to TLC videos. They’re   another female group who  are  known for their incredible  talent .    Destiny’s Child rose to become one of the most popular female groups in the 90’s.  They were formed in Houston , Texas in 1990.  Beyonce and Lativia were just 9 years old, Kelly Rowland  joined in 1992 and Letoya joined in  1993.  Destiny’s Child w ere  finally  offered a recording contract by Columbia. They opened for artists like SWV, D ru Hill, and Immature.    The genre of Independent Women is R&B.  R&B combines elements of rhythm and blues, pop, soul, funk, and hip hop.  It isn’t the...
